DOROTHY AND JOHN SIPP

Dorothy met John on a ski slope at Chestnut Mountain in January of 1979. She couldn't ski then and can't ski now; he still has the lift ticket she wrote her phone number on. The snow storm of ’79 didn't deter these guys. Their first date was a party from John's work. On the way home from the Red Line El, Dorothy pushed John into a snowdrift. He was smitten; she made him hot chocolate — cold vanilla as he called it. Then she was cooking her way into his heart — spaghetti bake, mushroom pie, and stir fried shrimp just to name a few of the romantic dinners she prepared for him at her 1427 Elmdale apartment.

In May of 1979, Dorothy was nominated for the Magnuson Award from the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago and before she and John started out for the Marriott for the Magnuson Dinner, John detoured and they stopped at the Fairbanks Lounge at the Holiday Inn where he asked, "Will you marry me?" and Dorothy replied, "When?"

The rest is in the History Book of Great Romances; they married July 8, 1979 at Bond Chapel on the campus of the University of Chicago. Our 2009 bride, Margret, was born September 23 of 1980 and the world has never been the same. God broke the mold when He made Margret — a beautiful and perfect baby, child, big sister (of Andrew — born 1986) teen, young adult and now the dazzling bride-to-be.

The family has gotten attached to all her boyfriends; Tony, Rob, Tom, Joe, but no one really fit the bill until Jason Rossi. Andrew said after he met Jason for the first time that Jason was the one for Margret. John and Dorothy felt the same and our family of 4 grew to a group of 5 after the first date in January of 2007. January is a good month for the Sipp girls.

Jason has a good heart and is a good egg. He never once complained when Andrew bought Hawks tickets for a February game. On the way to the stadium with all 5 crammed into the Sipp-mobile, Jason asked, "Where are our seats?" Dorothy looked at the tickets and said, "Andrew, where is the SRO section?" Despite achy feet, they all had a great time. And that's how it usually is when we all get together (now we are lucky enough to have Liz join us!). Jason fits right in. The Sipps are probably almost as happy to have had Jason propose as Margret was.

The wedding planning has been exciting, fun and stressful. Margret and Jason are all about love, hard work, devotion, faith, family and fun. So everyone sit back and relax and watch another chapter written in the History Book of Great Romances.

CHERYL AND JOHN ROSSI

In the spring of 1970, John invited Cheryl to an annual fraternity party with a dubious reputation. She declined, but lucky for her, he didn't hold it against her. They dated for the remainder of their college years, became engaged in January (good month!) of 1974 and married on May 26, 1974 at Cheryl's home church on Long Island with a Lutheran minister and Catholic priest presiding (an unusual occurrence at that time).

Now the cycle continues with Jason and Margret beginning their life together. We are thrilled to welcome a daughter and sister into our family. It is easy to see why Jason loves her so — Margret is smart, pretty, fun, caring and thoughtful. She won the hearts of our extended family at Christmas when she arrived with a Santa-like bag full of her beautiful knit scarves for all the ladies to choose from!

Our hearts are full of love and pride for these two wonderful young people!
